Resalta to retrofit lighting in three of Merkur’s retail centers in Slovenia

Resalta is undertaking its latest project for the Merkur retail chain in Slovenia. Resalta will implement a complete lighting renovation in three retail centers in Ljubljana – Vižmarje, Nova Gorica and Brežice.

A leader in the region, Merkur has been providing home improvement tools and solutions, including a range of products for construction, renovation and maintenance for 125 years. It currently operates 23 retail centres and strives to provide the best possible service and shopping experience for its customers, while preserving the environment. As such, it chose Resalta as its partner to improve lighting in three of its main facilities and lower carbon emissions.

Resalta will replace a total of 4,099 fluorescent luminaires with highly efficient LED, thus reducing energy consumption by 73%. The lighting retrofit will result in nearly doubled luminosity, for a far lower installed capacity. A redesign of the locations of the luminaires will also help improve efficiency and comfort. The lighting will include not just the shopping area but also warehouse, offices and other spaces within the retail centres. Besides lowering electricity consumption, thus generating financial savings, the measures will reduce CO2 emissions for Merkur by 801 tons each year.

Lighting renovation projects are a cost-effective and technologically simple method of improving energy efficiency and generate immediate results, achieving energy as well as financial savings while reducing CO2 emissions. LED lighting is energy efficient because it consumes less electricity than a fluorescent alternative, with a longer life cycle.

Resalta is a leading renewables and energy services provider in Central and Southeastern Europe, operating in ten markets throughout the region. A dynamic, fast-growing company, Resalta works with both public and private clients to finance, design and implement projects that champion decarbonization, reduce energy consumption, lower CO2 emissions and promote sustainability while generating cost savings. So far, the company has realized over 260 energy projects for over 180 clients and continues to expand its product and service portfolio.
